My name is Laura Dowers and I am LD Secretarial Services.
I worked for more than 18 years in different office environments, learning and honing the administrative skills needed to run a successful business. I learned my touch-typing skills at school, where fellow pupils sneakily asked me to type up their work because I was, they flatteringly claimed, so much quicker and more accurate than they. Yeah, I fell for that. Once fully employed in an office, I learned how to perform routine and regular business administration, deliver exceptional customer service, as well as manage stock control, credit control and work as part of a team as a service despatch controller.
In mid-2012 I was made redundant. Fortunately, I got another job straight away, but somehow the office environment had lost its appeal and I began thinking about the future. LD Secretarial Services was born.
Almost from the very beginning of LD Secretarial Services, I have been working hard to broaden my skill set. I completed a course in Copywriting, achieving a Diploma with Distinction, and a Proofreading course, something I had always wanted to do. Since 2009, I had been working on a degree in English Literature with The Open University and in July 2015, I finally completed it, so that I now hold a BA (Hons) Eng Lit (Open).
I also work as a novelist and writer. To date, I have published 3 full-length novels and 1 novella, and penned several non-fiction works under pseudonyms. You can find out more about me and my writing by visiting my author website, lauradowers.com.
